ESL Student: Top Performer in June 2019 CSEC Examinations
Ricardo Joasilus, an English as a Second Language (ESL) student, demonstrated that with hard work and perseverance students can excel in their academic pursuits.
Ricardo migrated from Haiti in June 2016, enrolled at the Maranatha Academy in Summer School in July and full time on September 1, 2016. When Ricardo was interviewed by the Principal in June 2016, he could hardly speak a full sentence in English.
This did not deter Ricardo from working hard. As a result, he was successful in passing 11 subjects in the recent June 2019 Caribbean Secondary Examination Certificate (CSEC) with 8 Grade ones (including English A) and 3 Grade twos.
In addition to Ricardo’s outstanding performance, the other students performed quite satisfactorily in the June CSEC examination.

- Micah Dean, passing 11 subjects .
- Shenylce Hernandez Bello 10 subjects
- Dorion Lightbourne passing 10 subjects.
